Ian was born in Cardiff on January 16th, 1961 and he has lived in Cardiff all of his life. He attended Rumney High School leaving at the age of 16 to take up an apprenticeship in Toolmaking.
Ian left engineering in 1982 to start a career in the Ambulance Service at the age of 21.
He became a qualified ambulanceman in 1984 and then became one of the first Paramedics in Wales in 1986. Ian remained as a fully operational Paramedic for about 25 years. In 2007 he graduated in an BSc (Hons) Pre-hospital Care before moving on to being a Clinical Support Officer looking after Clinical Governance for the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.
Ian became a Safeguarding Children Specialist before heading up the Safeguarding Team of the Welsh Ambulance Services NHS Trust.
He completed an MSc in Child Health and Welfare Studies in 2015 and since October 2016 Ian has been the Lead For Safeguarding in Public Health Wales, ensuring the Trust is compliant with all its Safeguarding Responsibilities.
Ian has been a Justice of the Peace since 2002. He is married with two grown up children and two dogs. Ian enjoys photography and travelling especially in his Camper Van.
