Cwtch of Comfort
A huge thank you to Eirian Thomas for helping and coordinating this project xx
We are looking for people to knit or crochet blankets or make patchwork quilts for our bereavement boxes and to comfort bereaved parents and family members.
Suggested Blanket and Quilt sizes:
Baby: 30” x 30” / 75cm x 75cm
Toddler: 30” x 45” / 75cm x 100cm
Child: 45” x 60” / 1m x 1.25m
Teen / Young Adult: 60” x 72” / 1.25m x 1.75m
Your blanket or quilt does not need to fall exactly on these sizes: they are merely a guide to help you.
Blankets – Knitted or Crochet
All blankets should be made with white yarn or pale pastel (yarn with a sparkle is fine) which is machine washable (and preferably tumble-dryable). Yarn weight and fibre type are unimportant.
Quilts should be made from gentle pastel, white or white on white fabric only and should be quilted. Quilt tops may be pieced or plain, and backings can be flannelette sheeting, fleece fabric, muslin or patchwork fabric. You do not need to include wadding in the quilts, but if you do, it should be thin (sheeting or fine wadding).
Please make sure that all materials used are machine washable.
Cwtch of comfort has its own blog giving details of patterns that you can use and sharing stories of the crafters who are involved in the blankets project. Visit us at cwtchofcomfort.wordpress.com
Collection of blankets and quilts
Once you have finished your blanket or quilt, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will give you details of where you can drop your blankets and quilts off.
But I can’t knit / crochet / make patchwork quilts! How can I help?
We are hoping to run Stitches for Wishes workshops where we will teach people to knit, crochet or make patchwork quilts. Watch this space for more information about how you can help.
Many thanks / Diolch o Galon.
